Frequently Asked Questions

Q How do I find people to dive with?
If you know your buddies' email addresses, you can send them invitations from your Buddy List. If you know their names, but don't have their email addresses, use the Buddy Search page instead. If you are just looking for new folks to dive with, check the Looking for Buddies List to hook up with other divers.
Q Can everyone else see my diving schedule?
Only the divers on your Buddy List can see your diving schedule. And, even then, they can only see the details of a dive (where/when/who) if you have invited them to that dive. So, if you're an instructor, feel free to put students on your Buddy List and rest assured they won't be able to just show up at more advanced dives you didn't invite them to.
Q Do I have to maintain my free/busy calendar?
No. This is just an easy way for your buddies to see which days you are available for diving.
Q How are the critter photos ranked?
The ranking system takes into account both the average rating of all votes and the total number of votes cast. This is more accurate than simply looking at the average rating. For example, a photo with an average rating of 4.7 with 100 votes will rank higher than a photo with only a few votes for a rating of 5. Check out the critter gallery now!
Q I have an idea for making PyD better. How do I tell you about it?
I strongly encourage you to post a comment on the PlanYourDive.com Facebook group. This will allow other folks using PyD to talk about your idea and possibly spark new ones. If you don't want to do that for some reason, just email me instead.
Q Something isn't working quite right. What's wrong?
This site is designed for browsers that support standards mode. It's tested using Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome (and sometimes Safari on a MacBook). If you're having a problem, please report it to the PlanYourDive.com Facebook group, along with a detailed description of the problem and the browser you are using.
